Republicans Must Stand Firm and Not Concede
Since last summer, millions of Americans have been united in calls for health care reform that puts patients and health care providers in charge and not insurance companies.
Recently, the President announced plans for a bipartisan summit in an effort to push through some type of health care reform. While we understand the need for some reform, we will not compromise on what we expect from Washington.
We will not support any legislation that includes:
*An individual mandate to purchase insurance;
*Establishment of government insurance, whether through a public option or direct program;
*Government funded abortions;
*Unfunded expansion of Medicaid that bankrupts state budgets;
*Interference in the patient doctor relationship;
*Increase in taxes or the national deficit;
*Any programs that increase the cost of health insurance and health care.
We want you to stand firm on these principles. The election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts is a testament of the resolve we as American citizens have, and the commitment we have made to see this task through. We expect our leaders to defend our liberties, and we expect our elected officials to not sway from the task at hand. There should be no concessions or “sweet deals” that would compromise the principles we hold dear.
We are watching and waiting to see what you do on the President's effort to jump start these health care negotiations. We will not concede and neither should you. If you don't hear us now, you will hear us in November.
