Medicare

Medicare is an insurance program for Americans ages 65 and older, including those with disabilities. The purpose of Medicare is to provide health care to senior citizens and to those with long term disabilities. We must not allow this program to be abused or to go bankrupt. Health care costs are skyrocketing, adding additional costs for the Medicare program; and baby boomers are entering the Medicare program on average of 10,000 per day.

Medicare as we knew it, ended with the passage of Obamacare. As a result of Obamacare, $575 billion dollars of funding for Medicare has been reallocated to Medicaid. This will increase the number of middle class Americans dependent on the benefits of Medicaid, essentially growing the welfare class.
The quality of care for our seniors is important. Such cuts will greatly affect the care they receive. Medicare is already going broke. These enormous cuts will lead to rationed health care benefits and long waits to see any physician.

In May of this year, under the Obama Administration, the Medicare Board of Trustees issued a report advising that if the program was not reformed, Medicare would go bankrupt in 2024. Knowing this, it is irresponsible for the federal government to continue to ignore this huge crisis that we are facing in a short period of time. We should be responsible and make the necessary reforms to assure American senior citizens have the benefits that they have paid into the system for so many years.

They deserve better from us. It is simple. We must reform medicare. We must work on repairing this system, and Obamacare is not the answer.

One Response to Medicare

  1. Loren says:

Has anyone heard of the future debt that the U.S. will accumilate from the unfunded mandidates (social security and medicare) ? I have heard of figures from 60 to 150 trillion dollars (along with our other debt). This is insane and cannot be sustained. We WILL be bankrupt – understand ? If we want to have a country where any kind of personal freedom exists we really need to eliminate these programs and go back to a country where familys take care of family members – it’s as simple as that – like it or not. People might really like these programs (no question about it they do) but they are not financially sustainable.
